Microchip
A microchip is a rice-sized chip inserted under the skin of your pet, typically given when they are being spayed or neuterd. A microchip is much more reliable then a collar and a tag because there is no chance it will fall off. The microchip is a permanent ID that links your pet to you. After the microchip is inserted you simply enroll your pet's ID code along with your contact information. Enrolling is what makes it possible for your pet to be positively identified. If your pet is taken to an animal shelter or clinic, the staff will scan the microchip to read its unique ID code. As soon as your contact information is retrieved, you will be contacted and arrangements will be made to reunite you with your pet. If you move or change any contact information make sure to update your Homeagain microchip info.
Here's what you should know about microchips:
- They do not hurt your pet, no more discomfort then a vaccine
- They do not require surgery, a simple one-time insertion with a syringe
- They do not move out of place, they are desinged to keep from moving
Did you know?:
- Getting lost is the number one cause of death for pets
- 1 and 3 pets goes missing during its lifetime
- Without ID, 90% of pets never return home
